Oy, what a couple of days it's been. I don't know where to start to describe them. Well, not quite as busy as I anticipated, I suppose. Or at least not busy in the ways I had first thought. I'm certainly making a concerted effort at getting all my work done. Mainly because I anticipated other demands on my time, or rather, one other demand, that actually is taking a little less time that I thought it would. That's good, though. It means that the potential crisis that came up at the end of last week is not as bad as it looked like it could be. And I'm starting to beat around the bush, aren't I? Okay. To be blunt: One of the RAs here, James, was about to not come back next year. He was asked to resign late last week. So, students, including myself, went into action, organizing ourselves to get him to stay. Well, to find out what he hell is actually going on, first and foremost, and whether he was being forced to resign, about to be fired if he didn't, or just asked to resign, or what. What I've gathered from today's meeting was that he was asked to resign, and felt that he should, and so that's what he was planning to do, but now that some brave souls have talked to both Stevie K. and Regina, we now know that he doesn't have to resign, and that Res. Life probably doesn't have a strong case for firing him if he doesn't, given the criteria for evaluating RAs and the MPA (Multicultural Programs Adviser). Student evaluation is apparently an important part of that, so we're planning to give input on a large scale. I have no idea where things will go from there, but at this point, that doesn't matter. There are a lot of other things I could go into here, but my brain has been occupied with them for most of today and yesterday, and I don't feel like sitting here at my computer and going through them again, particularly because I don't feel like sitting here at my computer much longer, because my back hurts. A lot. I had orchestra rehearsal today for the first time in two weeks. At least we didn't play the Faure, and so I didn't get my regular dose of humiliation. Tai Chi was outside, and that was wonderful. I slept through Hum lecture and Hum conference, but I don't care. I got 10 hours of sleep, which is more important at this point than any damned Hum conference. Yesterday, every time I would read anything for class, I would start getting either sleepy or dizzy. Not good. That hasn't happened so far today. Of course, I haven't done a lot of reading today, just a bit of reading for Logic out in the sunshine just before Tai Chi. So, I still have all my work to do. And off I go to do it.
