Twilight of... The Hell?!
Nov. 10th, 2003 12:47 amI haven't seen The Matrix: Revolutions and I don't have any plans to make any special effort do to so. Not going to make a special effort to avoid it either. I've seen the first two, so eh. Plus, there's the Hugo Weaving factor, and I've heard good things about Agent Smith in this one. Anyway, apparently one of the tracks on the soundtrack is called "Neodaemmerung." Neodaemmerung? Neodaemmerung! Twilight of the Neo! *facepalm* It's so... painfully pretentious. Is it just me, or is someone trying way too hard? Okay, maybe it's just me, since, on account of having him on the brain, I recognized the Nietzsche reference by the time I got to the umlaut. But anyway, the lyrics are in Sanskrit, which is interesting. (Expecially when paired with the title "Neodaemmerung"!)
And in other news, Friday I went to campus on a mostly-wasted advising trip. Why I needed to go over there to listen to some prattling about my unfulfillment of English 101/102 and what I can do about it, and then find out that registration doesn't even happen until December, and the schedule of classes isn't out yet. *sigh* Also, I got more useless advice about what sort of classes I should take next semester: one English, one Philosophy, one language, one Fine Arts, and one Social and Behavioral sciences. Uh, no. Sorry, but my object is to fulfill as many English and Philosophy requirements as I can in the next couple years before returning to Reed to write a thesis and graduate. One class from each department per semester is not going to cut it. A few simple questions about my future plans could have resulted in advice much more useful to me. But hey, it's worth what you pay for it, right? The only reason I went, really, is so that they'll take the hold off my registration. In December. I already have plans for how my credit hours will be spent next semester, so feh.
Update: Just remembered that "Neodaemmerung" is also a Wagner reference, maybe more than a Nietzsche reference (but hey, Nietzsche was riffing on Wagner too). Not that it really matters, because... it's still pretentious.
