I was having a nice dinner. It was rather quiet, as far as table conversation goes, because I was sitting with Matt, who isn't the most social person to begin with, and he was absorbed in this week's issue of the Quest. It was not painfully awkward, however, because there was a lot of noise in Commons. There was karaoke tonight, on account of it being Mardi Gras. (What karaoke and Mardi Gras have to do with each other, I don't know.) It was rather entertaining. Some people can sing, others cannot. Then Kristina and Nathaniel came back to the table, I had finished eating and had picked up my own copy of the Quest. I noticed that one of the headlines on the front page was "All Your Pancake Are Belong to Us" and then that there was a frame from the thing that that comes from along with the URL for it, and I cringed at the ubiquity of this phrase, "all your base are belong to us." I had also noticed it written on one of the signs in Commons earlier. I then turned to the inside of the paper, and glanced at the MRC's letter. I have to say that my response to reading the headline affixed to the letter was probably not very appropriate. "Oh, jesus, no!" I nearly yelled when I read, in bold, "MRC Apology to Christians." I was quite in the mood to do a bit of yelling and riot-act reading at that point. That's not what the letter was about! Yes, there was some apology, and some apology concerning Christians, but it was mostly apology from Christians! Grr. I was rather pissed at the fact that that headline was there, and when Eileen saw it, she was pissed as well. I haven't talked to anyone else from MRC yet, but I would not be surprised if they're pissed too. I'll have some apologizing of my own to do tomorrow. "I'm sorry about that headline being there. Had I actually seen it, I would have made sure it was changed. But when I saw the paper before we went to press, it said simply 'MRC Letter.' I know I didn't do it, but I still feel badly." Why do I feel so very in the middle here? Because now we have a case where there's something of an issue between two organizations that I'm part of and loyal to. I'm a member of the MRC, and I'm a Questie, too! This is not a comfortable position. *sigh* Just another thing to be angry about. And we already had lots of things to deal with in tomorrow's meeting. Including the fact that I'm still angry about the original letter and don't feel that we've dealt with things in any sort of logical order. We smoothed things over with IV before figuring out and processing through our feelings.

But on the bright side of things, I finally washed all my dishes that had been languishing on my desk and finally swept and mopped my floor! And I wrote that e-mail to the director of the molecular biology lab at UNM. Still haven't gone to see Steve Black, but I still haven't figured out where his office is, either. Room 224 in the Bio building, I know that, but I have no idea where that is, not being very familiar with the Bio building. It's also a bit hard to get familiar with it, what with construction in progress and all. But one day, I will have a key to the building. Heh, heh, heh...

Well, I've got reading to do. About the way things are.
