I don't know if it's actually sleep deprivation that is what's making me happy. Or the nice springlike weather. Or the sudden, temporary lifting of pressure just when most people here are in the midst of crunch time. Or some combination thereof. I certainly haven't been sleeping all that much, getting up at eight thirty every morning so far this week while going to bed at two thirty, three, four, something like that. I have been taking naps during the day, though. But that was today and yesterday, and I didn't have all that much work. I don't know what will happen tomorrow, because I'll actually have work, because there's that lovely little lab report due Friday, and the Hum reading, which I'm actually finding interesting, and then Hum paper. I don't know if I'll be tired but not be able to take a nap because I have pressing work to do, or what. But no use in worrying about it now.
Two of my three classes were outside today. I had Hum lecture, which of course can't be outside, andn which was actually interesting today. I prefer the lecturers who don't read their lectures from off a paper but instead just stand up there and talk. Maybe it has something to do with watching them think and come up with stuff. And it's amazing to watch someone spin out a reasoned argument on the spot. But anyway. Hum conference was outside. I had hoped it would be, but Jean said my conference leader doesn't really like to do that. But we did anyway. He's always five minutes late, and pretty much everyone was there on time and we all wanted to go outside, so that's what we did. The only other class I had today was Tai Chi, which is outside whenever it's nice out. It was a pretty good class. I felt a little mentally scattered throughout, but I still managed to do well. We started learning a new move which is pretty complicated, so we split it up into the footwork, the handwork, and then the whole thing. When we did just the footwork, which involves turning the basic stance around to different corners in a somewhat random order, I ended up with a perfect stance. Well, I know what a good bow stance feels like. I don't always get it perfect though, but when it's bad, I know it. Then when we put it all together, I ended up in the right position as well. I was kind of confused while going through it, though. My problem is that, although I can follow really well, I have a little trouble remembering things between classes. Maybe because I never practice... Oh, and Kristina saw us out on the front lawn and noticed that I was the only one whose pace matched the instructor's.
Also today, I learned how to play Go. It's kind of like Othello, but not really.
Well, I should actually do some work. Or try to, and then go outside for a walk or something.
