Night of the Full Moon
Jul. 24th, 2002 01:01 amStanding outside the theater this evening, taking a break from being on book, I looked up to the sky and noticed the full moon peeking through storm residues. Suddenly things made sense. That might be what explained the presence of a strange personage outside the theater, sitting on the bench, smoking and asking strange questions. To Hilly, in her Perdita costume, "Is this some kind of midriff Midsummer Night's Dream?" No, it's Winter's Tale, was the reply. "That wasn't a funny joke," she says. Well, no, it wasn't a joke at all.
Later Alanna and Anna (lights person) and I are talking, and the girl brings up abs, for some reason. Then being treated differently when you have short hair. None of which had to do with the conversation Lan and Anna and I were having. She was interesting, and friendly in a strange sort of way, and ever so slightly creepy. She said she was doing laundry nearby, and once ventured into the theater trying to watch rehearsal. She asked me what the plot of the play was, and I was stumped for a moment, thinking, "Fuck, how does it start?" We've been doing the middle of the show, so the beginning isn't so fresh in my mind. But tomorrow they'll run the beginning and the end, and with sound!
I got the soundtrack today, though apparently there's a second, fixed up version forthcoming. I also got all the cues and those are now noted in my script. I still have to go through it with the soundtrack so I know what the hell I'm doing tomorrow. We're still not using the sound system because it's not exactly working. The speakers have been taken down so they can put in an actual grid, and those should be up by this weekend. Which is good, since we're supposed to be doing tech rehearsals then. However, I didn't find out about the sound system situation until after I'd gone up to the booth, which I'd figured I'd have to do and therefore changed out of the skirt I'd been wearing before going to rehearsal. But I kept wearing the same shirt which has a design in glitter and a very plunging neckline. I've been shedding glitter all day, so now I'm excessively glittery.
Tonight's rehearsal was a good one. Still some missed lines, but not nearly as many as last night, and some of those fixed (such as ones dropped completely). It also seemed a lot more social, as I hung around outside a bit, and ran around barefoot. (My feet are now both black and glittery. It's quite interesting.) I've been around a week, so things are more comfortable. Plus I have a fellow techie to hang around with, as our lights person has been found. And I've been noticed. Dan, who is playing Autolycus, thanked me both yesterday and today. So I feel like I fit now, and this is definitely good.
( I am little shiny pieces )
I am happy.
