A Few Days
Feb. 12th, 2003 11:27 pmWow, I'm actually on a pretty normal sleep schedule. It's kind of strange waking up well before noon without anything in particular to be doing.
Today was a trip to the bank, delayed a day. I was going to go yesterday, but I pretty much cancelled all plans for the day when I woke up at 8:00 with a protesting stomach. (I knew the pizza at the mall would end up a bad decision.)
Monday was a good and productive day. I was up and on campus by ten to find Tim, who had printed out a Powell's job application for me, since I don't have a printer of my own and no more easy access to campus printers. While doing this, I ran into John and thus hung out for a little bit before he had to be off to class. I gave him M&Ms and he gave me lunch. Later on, after coming home to find a package (which contained Valentine's candy and money) for me on the doorstep, I ventured out into Portland. First stop, Powell's. Second, the Lloyd Center for Barnes & Noble. A couple hours, a few bus rides and $50 later, I had shiny new copies of the LOTR soundtracks, The Silmarillion and the second book in the Wheel of Time series. Then, having gotten off the bus between my house and Wimbledon, I decided to go and visit Carlotta. This turned out somewhat fortunate, as I was able to be listener and provider of alcohol. We ended up watching Masters of Disguise which is one of the silliest movies I've seen in a long time. I've been meaning to go back to see her again this week, but yesterday I didn't do much at all, and today I went by but there was no answer to my knock. The week is not over yet, though.
I feel much less gloomy now than I did this weekend. The days are beautiful and sunny, and the prospect of leaving here doesn't loom so darkly. But it is still not gone, and I'm still unsure as to what I want.
On another note, oh, the things that come out of my hometown. I wonder if it will ever make the local news?
