Oct. 25th, 2005 11:25 pmToday in Troy we watched a History Channel show on King Arthur. I was amused at some of the visuals, which were wildly inaccurate. Their "Geoffrey of Monmouth" (re-enactor) was shown working on what looked suspiciously like a gospel page. When they were talking about a bunch of princes being named after Arthur, they showed a canon table. And the illustrations they kept showing to represent Geoffrey, Gildas, and Malory were very much not those people. Malory? Was not a professional scribe. and Gildas is not the same person as Eadwine. Not that most people watching the History Channel would notice this sort of thing. But it is still an example of a certain, oh, laziness on the part of the HC people. Their program on "Priam's Treasure" wasn't a paragon of accuracy either.
I think there was more that I was going to say, but it has slipped my mind and I need to go transcribe.
