This seems to have been the week for new things. Monday, meeting internet people, and Friday, going clubbing.
When I set out from home, I had no idea how the evening would go. My only objectives were to check my mail, find either Cadi or her thesis desk, and perhaps go up to Safeway. These were all accomplished, with the last occuring after randomly meeting up with Tim and Christina. We trekked up the hill and ate at the Delta, then looked for a place for Tim to get a haircut (none were open any more, though), and then to Safeway. Then back to Tim's room for a while, to write on the Valentine's candy wrappers from the leftovers that Tim got. And then I was invited out clubbing, as Christina was meeting some people to go with.
I had not expected to go clubbing, so I was not at all dressed for it, wearing a t-shirt and paint-splattered jeans. That turned out to be okay, though. I went with Christina, Morgan, Erin, Dylan, and Shelley, mostly people I didn't know at all aside from perhaps having seen them around campus. We went first to a bar, where supposedly we were to meet up with some other people, but they weren't actually there. So we had a drink, some had some food, and we went on to the club. It was 80s night, but apparently some underground incarnation of the 80s. Most of the music was nothing I ever heard in the 80s, because I really didn't pay attention to music in that decade. (But of course, some of it did pierce my consciousness.) There were a few songs that I did recognize, even familiar with and liked. And as far as the people, well, there was quite an interesting slice of humanity in that dark room. Quite an age range, and a wide variety of dress, from dressed up to dressed down, well-dressed and the cross-dressed. There were some gothy people, some punkish.
So in general, it was a fun night, and quite unexpected.
