So yes, I am back in Albuquerque, as I mentioned. It's rather strange being back, in a way. I don't really feel like I'm here, but rather nowhere.

I left Portland quickly. Tuesday I closed my bank account and packed up almost everything once my dad arrived. We left the next morning. He kept me busy most of Tuesday and out until ten in the evening. So I didn't get to see many people before I went. Only two of my friends. I was not happy about that.

I managed to remain civil during the trip, however, as angry with my dad as I was. And he wasn't as annoying as usual. Well, no, he was annoying. But he didn't make me any more angry during the trip by being an asshole on the road. He must be mellowing out in his old age. Not that he was completely without losses of temper and patience though.

I have resolved two things because of the trip. 1. I will never eat country fried steak again. 2. I will never, ever, EVER drive for 13 hours with my dad again. That is what made him such a pill. But, we arrived in Laughlin (mini-Vegas without things like residents and other things a city has) after those 13 hours, so I was able to drink and gamble. Three cocktails, and they didn't make me drunk on account of the enormous dinner I had. As for the country fried steak, that's what I had for dinner the night before Laughlin, and it made me sick the next morning. But I was okay by lunchtime, aside from coming down with a cold, which is now in its full blown nastiness.

I think I have managed to get my dad interested in The Lord of the Rings. I brought the soundtracks with me in the car, and played them both once a day on the trip. On the third day, he was obviously impressed with them, and mentioned something about perhaps watching the movies now. I'm voting for the extended DVD of FOTR, which should be possible soon on account of my parents' new computer. Yes, they finally got rid of that old, slow piece of crap we used to have and bought a brand-new Dell. (Perhaps that's why it snowed in Albuquerque last week...) It's black and has a flat-screen display. It's supposed to have a DVD drive, but something got messed up somehow and it doesn't.

Tomorrow should include unpacking. Bleh. But! I get to see my niece tomorrow. Yay!
