'Tis a good day. Finished my Ling test in about ten minutes. And I found my "Love Reed" button, which I'd thought I'd lost but was actually sitting in the bottom of my bag. Plus, I got to campus early enough to sit by the duck pond for a bit and make sure I remembered everything I needed to for the test and then spend a bit of time with a Middle Earth couple trying to name their kid. (Two nuzgul in two days. Damn.)
And yesterday Eileen told me that Reed now has a History of the English Language class, which she is taking next fall. Apparently it's popular, so perhaps they'll still be offering it when I get back there. Foat's teaching it, so the class should be awesome.
Anyway, I kicked the test's ass. So far, UNM is making me feel smart. This I like. Another thing I like is that the mentality of the students seems so much more open. As in, there's much more of a sense that school is part of life; academics is not the be all and end all of existence. Important, yes, but there is life outside of school. The lack of insularity is quite nice.
