Fear and Mundanity in Burque
Jan. 25th, 2004 11:31 pmLast night I had a dream that was not in itself strange, at least not any more strange than my dreams usually are. I don't even remember what it was about, really, aside from that there was a snake in it somehow, and the vague impression that Freud might have had a field day with it. The strange part is that I woke up from it with an awful feeling of dread. I was absolutely terrified, as if I'd woken up from a nightmare. But it wasn't a nightmare, and I wasn't scared in the dream either. So I have no idea what that was about.
It snowed today. It'll probably all be melted by tomorrow afternoon, but I'll still have to plan for leaving early so that I have time to clear the snow off my windshield and run the defroster if need be. Like I had to the other day. The rain and cold made my entire back window all iced over.
Spent yesterday with my mom, sister and niece as usual. We went to a store in Nob Hill called Papers. They have the expected paper (crafty sorts of it) and a lot of other things as well. I got a deck of invisible cards. After that we went to eat Chinese food. And when we got back, I read incredibly slowly, because I was downstairs with everyone else and kept getting distracted. Not that I had a lot to read. I've pretty much finished my reading for tomorrow, and that amounted to about 30 pages. I feel so unaccomplished.
Made one more trip to the UNM Bookstore on Friday. Got the optional book for Indo-European. And The Zen Teachings of Master Lin-Chi was finally in. And what an expensive book! Twenty-one dollars for a book of not even 150 pages. And the type is rather large, so it could have had even fewer pages still. That better be some damn good binding. I still have three books left to get. Of the two that are in the bookstore, one is on backorder, and the other was supposed to be in last week but was not. So Powell's might be getting another order from me soon.
