Cover The Earth
Aug. 1st, 2002 11:37 pmThe evening was blustery and cool outside, but inside the theater was a different story.
It was sweltering up in the booth, and matters not helped by the fact that the water main had been turned off, so there was no air conditioning for something like half the rehearsal. But today I took two bottles of water and ice with me, which I didn't quite finish. (They are now back in the freezer, waiting to go back with me tomorrow, so I can have water both during the show and afterward for the cast party. I've learned good drinking habits at Reed.)
Rehearsal went smoothly, and even with the full intervals accounted for, ran in two hours. Afterward, I stuck around to help clean and repaint the stage with Ian (Leontes), Alanna (Hermione), Caitlin (Max), Pat (Polixenes), and Jack (Florizel). Painting was quite fun and obviously something I can't do without making something of a mess. I got paint on my jeans and in my hair, and a few drips outside the circle. But painting was fun, and at one point I had a roller in each hand. Somebody said the word "angling," which, combined with my location in the appropriate corner of the stage, prompted me to begin reciting, "I'm angling now, though you percieve not how I give line. Go to, go to..." thus showing those who were about that I do indeed have most of the play memorized, right down to the page turns.
Tomorrow's opening night! Hee! I'm having dinner with Gabrielle and Anna beforehand, and afterwards is of course the cast party. I can't help but wonder as much as I had loosened up tonight while sober what'll happen when I've got some alcohol in me.
