For two days, I had "Stormy Weather" stuck in my head.

The first day was Wednesday. Meg had the same song stuck in her head that day too, so she bought the music. I, however, played the song upon getting up on Thursday morning, which was gray and rainy. Today is gray and slightly less rainy. Cold outside, and cold inside, since they don't seem to have registered that outside = cold & inside should not be roughly the same temperature as outside. Inside is where we go to get out of the heat/cold, so logically the temperature inside should be the opposite. Doesn't make much sense from an energetic perspective, but oh well.

Last night we watched Amelie after a failed attempt at getting pictures developed after nine in the evening. (This is Portland. Things tend to close early. Reedies operate on a different time frame than the surrounding city because they live in a bubble.) Before that I'd gone to a discussion about the Black Athena lecture. We talked about a lot of things, and I came out of it almost hating Reed because I was angry again - angry about the failure of this institution to help all the people in it get through it. But is that going to change? Not as long as Reedies in general don't make noise about things in this immediate environment that do need to be changed. So many people here are so eager to protest about things going on far away, but so few raise a hue and cry about important things here. (There was the library lobby thing, but that seems kind of silly. How much does it matter whether we can be in the library lobby after 2:30 in the morning when there are Reedies who can't get all the financial aid they need, to name just one example of a bigger issue?) It's much easier to protest abstractions, because you don't have to live with the consequences.

Wednesday night we went to the Pied Cow once more. (This is becoming a weekly thing.) I covered the bill - dates & cheese, an expensive-ish coffee drink, spiced cider. The cider was good. Now I want a hot drink.

I was awake way too long yesterday. I was early for my 9:00 class, after having not slept very well at all. But I didn't sleep terribly well last night either. It kind of felt like I hadn't slept at all. Except that I probably wasn't as cracked out this morning as I would have been otherwise.

In other news, I dropped a couple classes today. I got most of the signatures needed yesterday, finished it today and took the form to the registrar's office. So I am absolved of all responsibilities pertaining to those classes. Now to concentrate on the others...
