I was going to not write until I was done with all the o-chem quizzes for the semester (and ever!), but fuck that. I think it will be okay. I managed to reach a point of equilibrium in all that fluctuation, and now I'm fine. Mild slacking off this weekend, but I'm happy to get back to work, I think.

Thursday I went to the opening event at the gallery in the art building. I was there only ten minutes or so, but that was enough. (Had to go take an o-chem quiz soon thereafter.) I was happy after that. Until after my quiz was graded, at which point I wanted to die because I would never, ever be able to pass o-chem at that rate, and just ack. But the next day I tried again, and it went better, and it is still within the realm of possibility for me to get a 75% average on the quizzes overall, and even beg some of the bonus points out of Alan, thus squeaking by with a D.

I had a concert this weekend, and that took up quite a bit of time. First, there was dress rehearsal yesterday, which took for-freaking-ever. Beforehand, I'd been on campus to work on the genetics lab report with my lab partners. I left them at six so I could go to rehearsal. I didn't get out of Kaul until 8:45, at which point I was quite late for the "Anti-Winter Formal Formal Dinner" that I'd been invited to. And having had to bring everything that I was going to need while on campus with me for the whole day, I hadn't thought about bringing any sort of formalwear, already having enough to carry. So, as a result of that and the fact that there were four other people there, each of them half of a couple, I was a quite underdressed fifth wheel. Afterwards we wandered over to the winter formal to see if it was worth trying to sneak into, but it wasn't at all exciting, and seemed rather un-winter-formal-like. So we all went our separate ways at that point.

Tonight was the concert, and all my friends were there, which was pretty damn cool. The concert went pretty well. Afterwards, it was back to the library, where I'd left my not-dressy clothes so I could change back and do some work. It was kind of fun wandering around the library shoeless and in my black velvet dress, though.

But as it is late, I should get home, so I can sleep and get up early to study o-chem. Fun.

After hurriedly reading the end of the chapter for unit 11, I went to take the first quiz, and I bombed it. Then after a really crappy study session that didn't seem at all productive, I took the quiz again and improved my score by seven points. If I make another improvement of seven points, I will have a perfect score. (I'm not sure that will actually happen, but I would still like a substantial improvement.) And I have pretty much all day tomorrow to go over the reactions in detail, which is what I need to do. (I also need to read the other chapter, but I can do that in a hurry in the evening and then spend Wednesday studying.) And when Alan comes back from being sick, I suppose I'll go talk to him. It seems really weird to me to go talk to a Reed professor about grades, because we are supposedly so not focused on grades. But I do also need to ask about the banana oil report rewrite, because with my correctly-typed numbers, I get the same yield that he thinks is wrong.

Anyway, in other news, I got a book in the mail today that I'd ordered from Powell's on Friday, Self Help by Lorrie Moore. So now I have a new distraction.
