My books came today! Yay! More Tolkien goodness. My dad seemed quite suspicious of my having ordered them online. "You couldn't get them here? Didn't you have to pay for shipping?" Well, yes, I could have gotten them here, but not one of them used and the other on sale, and not without paying tax on it. So even with the shipping the whole bill was cheaper than traipsing off to Bound to Be Read and getting all new copies not on sale.
Also today I turned in my Borders application. And my family says, "Good for you!" Eh, whatever. I'm doing it because money would be nice, especially earned from a place where I can get a discount on books.
After getting home, I bought a parking permit for UNM. That was rather annoying. The process itself was easy; the annoying part was finding out that the permit I just bought won't be effective until the beginning of the fall semester. And what, pray tell, am I supposed to do for summer? No information whatsoever to that nature on the parking page of UNM's website. Maybe I'll park across the street, in the lot by the parking department's building, in protest.
So I'm annoyed at that small detail that got neglected somehow, and at the fact that the first transfer student orientation isn't unil July 11th. Thanks, I'll already have been in class for a month by then. So helpful. I guess my situation is rather unique, since I'm getting little help in the time that I need it. At least I already know a student there. Good to know someone who's gone through the same process.
