Damn Crickets
Jun. 17th, 2003 11:21 pmThis morning I was woken up quite early, by a cricket in my room that decided that 5:30 would be an excellent time to be noisy. So, as there is a large stack of old magazines by my bed, I threw one at it every once in a while, to see if it would shut up or move. It eventually did after half an hour, but not before I got out of bed to look for the damn thing. So I went back to bed and slept for another three hours before having to get up.
Then, once I'm all dressed and ready to go off to class and outside about to leave, I notice that there's something in my shoe. A rock, I figure. So I take it off and dump it out, and lo! there's now a cricket on the ground. It had been in my shoe. Well, at least I'm rid of it now without killing it and it won't wake me up at ungodly hours again.
Didn't have much studying to do for Ling today, which is probably good since I couldn't exactly keep my mind on it anyway. Well, I was thinking about Linguistics, but my brain also kept drifting out of Earth and into Middle-earth. But hey, on the bright side of that, I've been getting excited about my eventual thesis again. Sindarin and Quenya and Old English, oh my!
