It's been a rather uneventful two weeks. Or maybe just quiet, nothing to write home about. Of course, I am home, so I don't need to write there.

Independence Day passed quietly. No celebrations at our house. I marked the occasion by putting on Jimi Hendrix's rendition of the Star-Spangled Banner and was more snarky and cynical than usual.

I'd finished the Linguistics class the day before, and my grade in it was an A. The first one I've gotten in quite a long time. Now I'm taking "Reasoning & Critical Thinking," the first quiz for which was ridiculously easy. At least we're keeping a good pace and will get through the entire syllabus, instead of just half of it like in the Ling class, and we get out early most days.

Last Monday was the first meeting of the Tolkien club. Among the proposed names: Pervy Tolkien Fanciers.

Yesterday I auditioned for Julius Ceasar at the Vortex. To borrow Alanna's assessment, it was "crappy and dumb." The director had us read only short scenes as Calpurnia and Portia, once through, and that was it. Very glad I had decided against making special arrangements to audition if I'd gone to Denver. Wouldn't have been worth it.

After the audition and some lunch, Alanna and I went to see the pirate movie. Quite good for what it is - a fun movie, designed for entertainment and little else, and well done. Johnny Depp is excellent as Captain Jack Sparrow the nancing pirate.

I have the house to myself this weekend, as my parents are in Denver. I'd have gone with them, but Friday night I got the whole story and decided not to go. My mom was going up to help my sister move, and would be driving back with my sister in a week. Since I'd see my sister here in a week, I figured it wouldn't be terribly worth it to go up to see her for an evening and a morning. Plus, as my dad implied he would, he ended up helping with the moving today and so won't be home until tomorrow. And I need to be here tomorrow as I have class in the morning. Besides, the truck was probably useful for moving.

Not much else of note to report.
