(no subject)

Yesterday I went to see a play called Patriots at the Tricklock. It was a good show, basically a satire of current politics. It starts out really funny and gradually gets more serious, ending with an extrapolation of how far things could go. There was an old guy there, retired military, widow, I'm guessing. He was there by himself, had no reservation. He sat up very straight with feet set wide. He walked like one used to discipline and with full use of all joints, despite age. He sat next to me during the show (and turned out to be parked next to me as well). When the cast, or, well, part of it started singing the national anthem, he started singing quietly along with them. (They did three different patriotic songs in round at the same time. That, my friends, is cacophony.) He chuckled at the scenes with the president.

Wednesday I went to see Little Girls Don't Do That. Also a good show. Today I was going to go see The Women, but I couldn't find the theater. It's one I haven't been to and hadn't actually heard of before.

And also today, I had an audition for the Words Afire play festival. It went pretty well, although my monologue could have been a bit smoother.

Thursday was the MSSA happy hour at Monte Vista Fire Station. It's quite expensive. I had just one drink, but it was quite potent. Yesterday I went over to Geckos after the play, intending to have just one drink and not stay very long. But then I ran into people and stayed. Drank water most of the time, though, until Amanda bought a round of shots, so I had a Lemon Drop. I went over there again today for dinner, since I'd been out on campus at the audition and the library and had intended to go to the play too. While there, I had a Junior Mint, a concoction of Eric's invention which does indeed taste exactly like a Junior Mint candy.

And now I should get to sleep. Tomorrow I need to finish reading the Communist Manifesto and get to work on my ethics paper.
