Feb. 1st, 2005 12:27 amI just dropped Tai Chi. It was just too different from what I learned before. And last week the instructor said something I thought was odd. She said that everything in all forms of Tai Chi starts out facing East. Um, no, it doesn't. The form I learned at Reed started out facing North. Besides, today I found out that the instructors for the eight-week classes do a different form. So I'll have to find out if that one is anything like what I already know but don't remember terribly well.
The Outlaws class is going... well, it's going. I wish we could write a paper for it, because I have an idea for one. Maybe I'll write it anyway, if I find some time. But, I also have an idea for the journal article I need to write for the Tolkien class, which is good. That one, however, is due later in the semester, and I don't yet have an idea for the short paper which is due much sooner. I also don't have my reading done for tomorrow. Only ten pages, though. Of the Silmarillion.
The other day, when translating Latin right after trying to memorize Sanskrit verb paradigms, I had to stop a moment to remind myself that Latin does not have a dual. (It would be useful, though, for talking about two serpents.)
