Conquer We Must, When Our Cause It Is Just
Jul. 4th, 2005 10:12 pmI love the smell of gunpowder in the morning. Er... evening. Not at all.
Yeah, somebody in the neighborhood is going crazy with the fireworks. It's been a two-day extravaganza.
I am not doing fireworks. I think my last experience with those involved someone shooting off a mortar across a walkway, toward a building. (Ah, crazy drunken Reedies...) Instead, I am listening to Jimi Hendrix's rendition of the Star Spangled Banner, and not thinking patriotic or even ironically patriotic thoughts because I'm too tired for that. And that is because I went hiking with
hannah_phi and co. up in Bandelier. Afterward, we drove through Jemez to get back. And I realized how much I don't know about the state I live in. I know where 'Burque is, of course, and Santa Fe, and all the other places I know of are in some general direction, i.e. up north not on I-25, down south somewhere.
And now, I have just watched GalaxyQuest after returning from dessert at my sister's. Soon, a bit of HP before sleep.
Happy fourth, everyone.
