Oh good lord. Nothing like someone being cluelessly know-it-all about the SCA. My favorite part is where she says that the Battle of Maldon is "when the Anglo-Saxons finally kicked Viking ass." Yeah, except for the part where they lost. Horribly. Points for trying to not apply the term "Dark Ages" to the Middle Ages, though.

Except that her definition of "Dark Ages" is just so asinine. Even the commenters' favorite source, the oh-so-problematic Wikipedia, includes the modern academic dismissal of the term.

You made my head hurt. ;-)

Oh, it made me hurt too. That's why I had to share.

Maybe she meant the Battle of Brunanburh? Maybe? A little bit?
My head hurts, too. The whole stupid-incorrectly-mocking-the-stupid thing is a bit dizzying.

That was my devout hope as well, but if you read the comments, someone else also identifies Maldon as a winning battle against the Vikings. Ouch.

...maybe she meant they literally kicked Viking ass, and then were massacred in retaliation? Or something? No?

No, don't think so. She just needs to stick to talking about gadgets and techie toys, I think. Leave the medieval history to the people who actually read books.

Wait, was that unnecessarily snarky?
