Inane Theater-Related Ramblings
Jul. 26th, 2002 04:02 amA week ago, this was my bedtime. However, that has shifted back an hour. This is not a good thing. At least not when I sleep until after noon because of it even when I have things to do. Tomorrow/today/before the next rehearsal, I need to be obsessive about lists when it comes to my cues. There are changes that need to be made, and I need to know exactly what's on the soundtrack (a couple run-throughs has not proven sufficient to make me as familiar with it was I am with the script) and the new order of the cues. Getting up just in time to shower, eat, and chill a bit before heading off to the theater won't cut it.
I intend to have a notebook with me at rehearsal tomorrow. Perhaps I'll have a chance to write a bit. Probably not, though. The set up we've got now isn't exactly convenient for doing anything other than pushing buttons with one hand while holding my script with the other. We're still using the piece of shit CD player, which sits on the box office counter and which I had been standing in front of for the most part. There's a bench next to it to sit on, but it's too low to be sitting on when I need to be pushing buttons. After nearly going deaf from standing in front of this CD player, the volume of which is generally turned up as far as it can possibly go, I hit upon the solution of sitting on the counter next to the machine. That's more comfortable, but wouldn't afford much of a desk surface, at least not without turning slightly away from the stage. It'll be really cool when the sound system is actually set up again. Theoretically, that will be tomorrow. Then I get to figure out how to use it. If it isn't ready by rehearsal tomorrow, then I won't be able to use it until Monday, when tech rehearsals actually start, because Saturday we're meeting at some church.
So, sleep now. Then forcing myself up early (I hope) and being productive.
